FOLLOWING ARE TWO INTERNSHIPS/GRANTS FUNDED BY THE AMERICAN FLORAL ENDOWMENT

1)   The VIC AND MARGARET BALL INTERNSHIP

INTERNSHIPS
6 month	experience	$6,000 Grant + paid internship
3 month experience	$3,000 Grant + paid internship (non-summer)
3 month experience	reduced grant + paid internship (summer only)

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Full-time, undergraduate sutdents who:
	are currently enrolled in a recognized floricuture/ environmental 
		horticulture program at a 2 or 4 year college or university
		in the U.S.
	maintain a "C" or better GPA with satisfactory progress in a degree
		or certificate program.

Internship must take place while an undergraduate unless the student plans 
to enroll in a graduate program.  In such instances, students may take 
training immediately following graduation.  

WHERE IS THE TRAINING?
	A production greenhouse, nursery or botanical garden away from home/school 
		(commercial establishments preferred).
	United States facilities, primarily (Canadiam & other foreign locations 
		considered)
Transportation costs to and from location are the student's responsibility
($500 of the Internship award is available in advance for travel & relocation)

WHEN AND FOR HOW LONG IS TRAINING AVAILABLE?
	Interships are for a period of 3 or 6 months (6 months encoraged).
	
	Winter or sprring pot/bedding plant seasons (Dec.-June) are encouraged.
		3 month summer interships are allowed at a reduced award level 
		if location is deemed to provide valuable production experience

HOW AND WHEN DOES A STUDENT APPLY?
	Students must apply through a floricultural faculty member.
	
	Application materials submitted by faculty member must include:
		a completed, current official application form
		(contact Endowment office to verify latest application form 
		before applying)

		a two-page statement by the student explaining reasons for
		applying

		an official school transcriptr
		
		a letter of recommendation and endorsement by the faculty 
		member

		a photograph of the applicant (for publicity purposes only)

	Application deadlines are:  March 15 (fall & winter training)
		and November 1 (Spring & summer training).  Selection within
		45 days of deadline.

2) THE MOSMILLER SCHOLAR PROGRAM

Internships are for 10 to 16 week periods in a wholesale, retail or allied 
trade company.  Interns are paid by the emplower duing training, and upon
successful completion of the PRogram, receive a $2,000 cash grant.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Full-time, undergraduate sutdents who:
	are currently enrolled in a recognized floricuture/ environmental 
		horticulture  or business program at a 2 or 4 year college or
		university in the U.S. with a recognized floriculture program.
	maintain a "C" or better GPA with satisfactory progress in a degree
		or certificate program.
	demonstrate outstanding potential and serious interest in a floral 
		industry career.

Students take training while an undergraduate or immediately following 
graduation.


WHERE IS THE TRAINING?
	Training  may be conducted in:

	Floral retail, wholesale and allied trade companies located in the
		United States and away from home/school 
		(commercial establishments preferred).
	
Transportation costs to and from location are the student's responsibility
($500 of the Internship award is available in advance for travel & relocation)

WHEN AND FOR HOW LONG IS TRAINING AVAILABLE?
	Interships are for a period of 10 to 16 weeks.
	
	Spring or Fall Interships are preferred for the ost meaningful 
		industry experience.  Summer internships are allowed when the
		location can provide valuable experience.
WHAT ELSE IS REQUIRED?
	Students in the Mosmiller Scholar Program must:

	Agree to and fulfill the responsibilities assigned by the employer for 
		the internship time period.

	Submit a 500-word report evaluating the experience withing 30 dyas of
		completing the Program.  Reports are shared with the board, 
		employer and used for program promotion.

	Secure permission to interrupt studies for the length of the training 
		period when required by the university.

	Students must apply through a floricultural or business faculty member.
