     Learn the horticultural operation of the country's largest
arboretum. This intern will receive hands-on experience in
landscape maintenance, plant records, estate gardens management,
and nursery production. Training in public horticulture is achieved
by rotating through our Main Display Garden, Rhododendron Garden,
Lantern Court estate gardens, 250 acres of plant collections, and
production nursery. Additional training provided by assisting plant
recorder with locating, inventory, evaluating collections, and data
management on BG-Base. Intern will be expected to complete a
research project or paper.
          The Holden Arboretum is a public horticultural museum
established to promote the knowledge and appreciation of plants. We
are a unique institution- 3,100 acres- integrating cultivated
gardens and plant collections with surrounding natural areas. Our
internships give students in horticulture, landscape architecture,
horticultural therapy, botany, biology, or related Fields, an
opportunity to experience various job responsibilities in a
professional environment On-the-job instruction, weekly education
sessions and subsidized excursions to seven horticultural
institutions in the U.S. and Canada, offer a perfect compliment to
academic study. Holden supplies interns with free housing and plans
social activities with its permanent staff during the internship.
Located thirty minutes from Cleveland, museums, professional
sports, ethnic areas, and festivals are within easy driving
