TRANSPORTATION

University Vehicles
Persons driving State or Federal vehicle must be employed by the University and must have a valid Nebraska drivers license. A Federal license is needed to drive a Federal vehicle. When using University vehicles, you are responsible for locking and securing the vehicle. Drivers must log mileage and file a mileage report either per trip or monthly. University vehicles are for official use only and cannot be used for personal activity i.e. taken home, to the grocery store, etc. Non-university personnel i.e. family members, friends may not ride in the vehicle.

Travel
Travel Authorization (TA) forms must be filled out at least one month in advance for out of state travel. Upon return, an Employee Expense Voucher (EEV) must be filled out to receive reimbursement. The University does not advance money for travel, but meeting registration fees can be paid in advance if appropriately arranged and documented. All forms may be obtained from the cabinets on the south wall of the Horticulture office.

Parking and Registration
Parking permits are obtained from the UNL Parking Services at SDPG Suite A (472-1800).

The following items are needed:

1) a completed UNL vehicle registration/parking permit application (it may have to be completed at UNL Parking Services)

2) vehicle registration certificate

3) university I.D.

4) appropriate fee

Registration of Vehicles
Whether or not you wish to buy a parking permit, all graduate students who are frequent users of the University's facilities and own and/or operate a vehicle on campus are required to register their vehicles with the UNL Parking Services. There is no charge for this registration. Graduate students should check with the Department of Motor Vehicles (phone: 471-2281) to see if they can continue to register their vehicle in their home state.

Buses
Inter campus shuttle buses run between City Campus and East Campus on a regular schedule during first and second semesters. The Lincoln Transportation System runs city buses throughout the city. There are nominal fees for use of all bus systems. Schedule and fee information is available from the Lincoln Transportation Bus System (phone: 476-1234), or at the information desk at the East Campus Union.
