EQUIPMENT AND INSTRUMENTS
Borrowing by members
of Horticulture Department (faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate
students)
1. All equipment/instruments that you wish to borrow (physically
remove to another location) should be confirmed by lab coordinator.
DO NOT MOVE items without permission. If permission is denied,
you may appeal to the **Lab coordinators in areas with equipment
from more than one project should contact faculty members involved
prior to authorizing the borrowing of equipment from that project.
2. Individuals wishing to borrow the equipment or instrument
are then to be instructed by the lab coordinator (or an individual
designated by the lab coordinator) as to how the equipment operates
to ensure that the equipment or instrument will be operated properly.
The borrower must demonstrate ability to operate the equipment
before removing it.
3. Other lab ware MUST
be signed out on sign out sheets that are posted in each lab.
4. If you break or damage
lab ware, instruments or equipment, report it immediately to
the lab coordinator. You will be expected to repair or replace
damaged equipment. If a compromise concerning repair or replacement
of the item cannot be reached, you can appeal to the Graduate
Committee.

Department

from lab coordinator for any equipment or instrument, regardless
of size, to be borrowed from the department.

Form for Borrowing Equipment
(Effective December 1987)
To Our Colleagues in the University:
Due to cost, fragility and precision of the piece of equipment
you wish to use/borrow, we would like to instruct you as to its
proper use. After the instruction, we would then like you to
demonstrate the proper use of the equipment to be sure that you
have no questions. With the using/borrowing of this equipment
and signing of this paper, you agree to pay for any costs for
equipment replacement or repair that are incurred. DO NOT take
a piece of equipment to be repaired without first discussing
it with the lab coordinator who lent you the equipment. Once
you have finished with the equipment, it is to be returned to
the lab coordinator, who will assure it is in working order.
At that time, this agreement sheet will be discarded.
Thank you for your cooperation.
