GENERAL DEPARTMENT POLICIES
Emergency
Situations
When
the fire alarm rings (continuous ring) in Plant Sciences Hall
you are to leave the building immediately
using the stairs. You may reenter the building only after an
"all clear" signal has been given. It is a felony (serious
crime) to remain in the building during a fire alarm or to return
before the "all clear" has been given. When the fire
alarm rings with an intermittent ring it signals a tornado warning.
You are to take the stairs to Plant Science 199 and remain there
until the "all clear"signal has been given. Further
information is given in the orange pages of the Centrex and in
the Horticulture Department Safety Manual located in the main
office.
Smoking
It is University policy that you may not smoke in any building
on campus.
Secretaries
Secretarial services are not available to graduate students. Typing
of term papers, thesis drafts, tables and other similar materials are
student responsibilities. Secretarial tasks which pertain to
activities associated with your research should be handled through
your major professor. Students should allow 5 days for secretaries
to complete any task.
Telephone
The telephone
in the graduate office is for local calls only. If graduate
students have a personal long distance call to make, it must
be made from a pay or personal phone. Long distance telephone
calls relating to thesis research, teaching or extension may
be made from the major professor's phone with their permission.
