Graduate Room Guidelines
(Rooms 373 and 383)

The Graduate Rule Policy and Guidelines were determined by the students as follows:

1. For the benefit and study rights of ALL students, the graduate room is to be kept quiet. Casual and academic conversation, as well as visitation by guests, are to be scheduled during the open hours of 12:00-1:00 pm and 5:00-6:30 pm weekdays. This will strike an important balance between crucial study and work time and necessary student interaction. Strict adherence of the above is required to alleviate the existing problems in the graduate room.

2. Common courtesy should be practiced during the weekend when students are working in the graduate room.

3. In preparation for the upcoming week, the graduate room shall be quiet on Sundays from 3:00 pm onward.

4. Extended conversation, visitation and joint collaboration is to take place in suitable places provided by the University (first floor Plant Science, Library, Student Union).

5. Failure to solve problems internally will result in intervention of the department chair.

6. Inter-graduate communication is encouraged for relaying prompt and accurate telephone and other communication messages.

7. "Borrowing" of personal belongings between students is sometimes a problem. ALL students should seek personal permission for borrowing other students' personal belongings.

8. Smoking is prohibited in all UNL buildings.

GRADUATE ROOM MAINTENANCE:

1. Each student is responsible for the general upkeep and professional appearance of the immediate area around his/her desk.

2. Students who wish to keep ornamental plants in the room are responsible for plant upkeep.

3. The graduate room is not to be used as a long term storage facility for greenhouse supplies or other extraneous materials.

4. Doors should be kept closed and locked when graduate room is unoccupied, even if for a short time.
